Sue qualified in 1985 with a B.Sc.Dietetics degree (Natal University) and Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Dietetics (UP).

Her first years of working experience were in both the Baragwanath and Pretoria Academic Hospitals (7 years in total). This provided invaluable clinical dietetic experience with both “In” (i.e. hospitalized) - and Out-patients with a wide spectrum of illnesses. She was also involved in the training of Student Dietitians for many years.

Thereafter she was employed in Industry (Leppin) for a year, where she developed and marketed nutritional supplements for hospital and Community clinic use.

She has been in private practice since 1993.

Sue has a passion for the profession of dietetics: assisting people in all walks of life to eat better in order that they achieve optimal health within the scope of their specific medical condition. A special interest includes the use of the Glycaemic Index as a tool for the practical day-to-day management of diets providing optimal blood glucose control, with proven health benefits.

Other interests include treatment of food allergies and intolerances; as well as assisting people with colon disorders. She also enjoys treating children with any nutritional problems.

To date – she has 2 practices: one in Northcliff, and the other in Boskruin – both in Randburg. Both of these practices are thriving.

She has also developed and run both diabetic and weight-loss support groups for over 2 years, and has a product that is re-used many times for assisting diabetics and overweight people achieve improved management of their condition and therefore better health, through group therapy.

She also does consultancy work for the food industry – offering advice to food manufacturers, and assisting them with food labeling.

She gives talks to schools and clinics; and has also had experience with the media: radio, television and magazines.

She is also involved in software development and marketing, specifically with dietetic and medical accounting software.

Since 2002, she has served on the Executive Committee for the Association for Dietetics in SA, in the portfolio of Private Practising Dieticians. This has resulted in a lot of close work with the medical schemes, HPCSA, and SA Health Care Professions Alliance; in addition to working with fellow committee members on a variety of projects promoting dietetics in Southern Africa.

The most recent business venture is Dieticians at Work, which is a business that recruits and trains dieticians. This is run together with colleague, Lynne van Zyl. Sue does the training, and runs workshops on private practice management, amongst other topics.

 
   
Brindy has worked for DAW for a few years, and brings a wealth of experience and empathy to the team!
She works at NHCs-Bryanston and Northcliff, and has her own practice on a Saturday.

Chantal Walsh

Chantal graduated in 2005 with a B.Sc degree in Dietetics, and in 2008, completed an M.Sc Dietetics.

She started work as a Community Service Dietician at the Johannesburg General Hospital where she gained amazing experience in numerous different departments.

In October 2008 she decided to travel and gain international experience. She worked in the UK, firstly in Manchester and then in Kent.

In 2010 Chantal moved to San Diego, USA to work at a weight loss and fitness camp. Here, she became a Pilates instructor, and is also where her passion for health, exercise and nutrition, and how these affect the body, was born.

She joined the DAW team in January 2011, and looks forward to guiding individuals on the best nutrition (and exercise) for their body.

Liz Kullmann
Liz Kullmann completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition at the University of Alberta, Canada and has a post graduate degree in hospital dietetics from the University of Natal and a diploma in Sport Nutrition from North West University.

Liz’s work experience has provided her with expertise in many areas such as nutrition marketing and food product development, healthy weight loss, chronic disease management and prevention, sports nutrition, gastrointestinal health, pre- and post-natal nutrition, and more.

Liz often shares her expertise with the media and has been a guest on various television and radio programs and she often assists media with nutrition articles.Liz is passionate about nutrition and enjoys educating and empowering her clients to take charge of their overall health while setting realistic and practical goals.

She supports and motivates them as they embark on their journey to make better food choices and improve their health, lifestyles and performance.Liz has counselled hundreds of individuals including iron men, tri-athletes, cyclists, swimmers and runners on the benefits of healthy eating.

She can show how you can effectively improve your health, energy levels and sporting performance. She will show you easy to adopt personalised changes that will improve your training, recovery and help you to achieve your health and performance goals.

In her spare time, Liz values her time with her family and friends and also enjoys running, going to gym and training her puppy.
